E&E COMPASS BUTTON
WATCH THE VIDEO. The new E&E Compass Button by Shomer-Tec was inspired by the escape & evasion compasses developed by the Americans and British during WWII. They were issued to Allied airmen and commandos. These specialized escape compasses were small, had minimal markings, and provided gross magnetic north indication. They were designed to avoid being detected and confiscated if captured. Now – 80 years later – we’ve brought the escape compass to a new level of covertness. Recently developed for certain elite US units that operate in dangerous areas around the world, this new update increases escape and survival odds in situations where other direction-finding tools will not be an option. The E&E Compass Button avoids detection and confiscation by captors since it remains hidden in plain sight. It looks like and functions as a regular button, and is un-recognizable as a compass. It can be substituted for one of the buttons on your existing clothing or just sewn into a garment as a spare button. To deploy, simply remove the button and then pull out its titanium gimble pin. With the pin pointing upward, place the button with its bottom (flat) side down onto the pin (there’s a hidden 5th hole to put the pin into in the center of the bottom side). ULTRAVIOLET TRACKING POWDER
Ultraviolet Tracking Powder by Shomer-Tec can identify a theft suspect, catching them red-handed! (Actually, blue-handed). This unique fluorescent tracking powder readily transfers from objects to the fingers and hands when touched. It remains invisible except when viewed under ultraviolet (UV) light. Anyone who’s touched it can be identified, as their hand will fluoresce a bright blue color when viewed under UV light. Until now, a format that provided easy and efficient application of ultraviolet powder hasn’t been available. But this new product has changed all that — the powder is contained inside a patented powder sprayer device, which instantly and cleanly deploys a standardized application in a consistent amount and pattern each time. To deploy, aim the nozzle at the target object or area from a few inches away and then press the actuator all the way down a couple of times. It features a directionally-adjustable spray nozzle, which also prevents accidental discharges when in its locked position. This economical unit provides about 3000 sprays — less than a penny per pump! Fluorescence is the phenomenon in which certain materials absorb ultraviolet energy and re-emit this invisible radiation in the form of visible colored light. Fluorescence occurs only while activated by UV rays; once they are removed the fluorescent glow ceases. The best fluorescent responses occur in darkness or under low-level lighting conditions. Utilization options for ultraviolet powder are extensive, including applying to objects prone to theft, fire alarm pull handles, door knobs, keyboards, etc. Powder is recommended for indoor applications, and paste for vertical surfaces and outdoor applications. DARBY ESCAPE TOGGLE
The Darby Escape Toggle is a tool designed to escape from Darby-style handcuffs. These cuffs were first manufactured in the mid-1800s, and are still used by certain groups in third-world countries. Since U.S. and other personnel operate in these regions, they are in potential danger of being taken captive by these groups. We were asked by some chaps working with the British MOD Survival School to develop a tool that made escape possible from these cuffs. ULTRAVIOLET THIEF DETECTION POWDER
Ultraviolet Thief Detection Powder is designed for thief detection and the identification of stolen or altered items. For example, an article can be marked so that it is invisible to the eye, but under ultraviolet light the item and anyone who touched it can be identified. Powder, once touched, remains on fingers and hands, invisible except under UV light (see our Ultravoilet LED Flashlight for a light source). Tampering, theft, substitution, etc., can be revealed as well as evidence against a suspect provided. Fluorescence is the phenomenon by which certain materials absorb ultraviolet energy and re-emit this invisible radiation in the form of visible colored light. Fluorescence occurs only while the material is being activated by the UV rays. Once the source of the UV radiation is removed, the fluorescent glow ceases. The best fluorescent responses occur in darkness or under low-level lighting conditions.
